How to begin to capture the excitement, the joy, the feeling of success and achievement, but also the dedication to continue to make the world better, with “The Changing Culture of Communications… from Generation to Generation” that was so palpable for all attending the GTWN 30th Anniversary Gala evening at the fabulous Palau Requesens in Barcelona on the occasion of the Mobile World Congress. GTWN ushers in Next Generation with new Global President, Keri Gilder, CEO Colt Technology Services and 2021 CEO of the Year

16 February 2022, London/Cologne: The GTWN (Global Telecom Women’s Network) has announced today that their new Global President will be Keri Gilder, CEO Colt Technology Services and World Communications Award’s 2021 CEO of the Year. The GTWN, which will celebrate their 30th Anniversary this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, has been instrumental in “Changing the Culture of Communications… from Generation to Generation”. GTWN hosts a virtual webinar on 04 March 2021 to launch the new edition of the flagship publication The Mobile Century.

The 2020 Reception was to take place on 24 February 2020 at the Fondacion Rocamora but had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. The Global Telecom Women’s Network (GTWN) held its traditional Welcome Reception on the evening of Monday 25 February to mark the start of MWC 2019 in Barcelona. The location was the magnificent Casa de la Seda (Silk Museum), which is the only former guild house open to the public and which has more than 300 years of history behind it.

Viviane Reding receives GTWN Silver Anniversary Lifetime Achievement Award for ground-breaking work in shattering Mobile Roaming Costs, Glass Ceilings for Women on Boards and guaranteeing Data Privacy for EU Citizens

27 February 2017, Mobile World Congress, Barcelona Former European Commission Vice President and European Union Member of Parliament Viviane Reding received the award at the GTWN 25th Anniversary celebration during Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. The Lifetime Achievement Award, the first to be bestowed by the GTWN, recognises Viviane Reding's dedication and ground-breaking work in addressing three major challenges for EU citizens' shattering Mobile Roaming Costs and Glass Ceilings for Women on Boards and guaranteeing Data Privacy for EU Citizens. Ms. Reding's vision of a borderless mobile world for Europe will come into effect finally in June of this year, 13 years after she took on the challenge of shattering mobile roaming costs while she was EU Commissioner of Telecommunication, Information and Media. This stance was often very unpopular with mobile operators but consumers cheered her on and finally, this year the GSMA embraced it whole-heartedly with its Chairman, Sunil Bharti Mittal, the billionaire Indian telecoms tycoon, has called calling on the industry to stop fighting attempts by regulators to force down roaming rates and said that mobile companies have created a "disaster" with such high charges. GTWN celebrates Silver Anniversary during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

27 February 2017, Mobile World Congress, Barcelona The Global Telecom Women's Network (GTWN) marked its 25th Anniversary at a special gala dinner on Monday 27 February (View the celebration photos here). Present at the gala event were many of the senior executive members of the GTWN Board who have contributed so much over the past decades to the development of the mobile and broader ICT sectors, as well as the role of women as leaders in that industry. Also participating in the celebrations were many senior industry representatives of the GTWN sponsor organisations who over the years have made the GTWN events and other activities possible. These included the GTWN Silver Anniversary Dinner sponsor iTalent, whose CEO Renee LaLonde was also acknowledged as a role model for women led business and Every European Digital, whose founder Bridget Cosgrave is also GTWN Global President. A focal point of the celebration was the awarding of the inaugural GTWN lifetime achievement award to Viviane Reding, former Vice President of the European Commission and current European Union Member of Parliament (see related press release). 02 March 2015, Mobile World Congress, Barcelona The GTWN's Welcome Reception at the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona brought together more than 200, corporate, telecoms and tech executives, top Government officials and industry analysts to the new Mobile World Centre on the Plaza Catalunya in the centre of Barcelona. The Mobile World Centre, housed in a totally renovated Telefonica building dating from 1928, is a public-private partnership established in late 2014 by Telefonica and the Mobile World Capital Foundation. The setting was an ideal location for the GTWN Reception, bringing together as it does the latest in digital technology, Guests were treated to a multitude of displays of various leading edge applications, demonstrating how digital mobile technology is changing every aspect of the world and our lives.
